Braumart Theatre summer movies listed

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Braumart Theatre in Iron Mountain has announced its upcoming classic movie showing schedule.

A special feature to their Classic Movie Series is local filmmaker Seth Anderson will give a short presentation before each movie. They also will show a trailer of upcoming movies.

June — Vintage Summer Blockbusters

Today — “Speed,” 7 p.m., 1994 film, rated R, 116 minutes.

On the LAPD SWAT detail, Jack Traven is known as a cop with a reckless nature and a brilliant understanding of the criminal mind. He has some unfinished business with Howard Payne, a sociopath who nearly killed Traven and his partner Harry during a spectacular extortion attempt. Now Traven has been given the challenge of his career when a crowded bus — wired by a vengeful Payne to explode if it slows to under 50 mph — is set loose during Los Angeles’ morning rush hour.

Saturday — “The Karate Kid,” 3 and 7 p.m.; 1984 film, rated PG, 126 minutes.

A bullied teen learns self-defense and self-confidence from a sage handyman.

July — Welcome to the Jungle

July 26 — “Predator,” 7 p.m., 1987 film, rated R, 106 minutes.

Mighty Arnold Schwarzenegger battles a deadly alien Predator in this horrifying high-tech thriller. Schwarzenegger stars as the leader of a military rescue unit sent into the jungles of Latin America in search of allied captives. Rocky’s Apollo Creed, Carl Weathers, is second in command. One by one, Schwarzenegger’s men are killed by an unseen enemy. They are no longer the hunters but rather the hunted and there is nowhere to hide from the monstrous, inhuman Predator.

July 27 — “Madagascar,” 3 and 7 p.m., 2005 film, rated PG, 86 minutes.

Alex the lion is the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape with the help of some prodigious penguins, to explore the world.

August — Wild Wild West

Aug. 30 — “The Man from Snowy River,” 7 p.m.; 1983 film; rated PG , 94 minutes.

Shot in Australia’s breathtaking high country, this film chronicles a boy’s difficult passage into manhood. Tom Burlinson stars as an orphan who returns to the mountains to conquer the elusive wild horses.

Aug 31 — “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” 3 and 7 p.m.; 1969 film, rated PG, 112 minutes.

The true story of fast-draws and wild rides, battles with posses, train and bank robberies, a torrid love affair and a new lease on outlaw life in far away Bolivia. It is also a character study of a remarkable friendship between Butch — possibly the most likeable outlaw in frontier history — and his closest associate, the fabled, ever-dangerous Sundance Kid.

Concessions are available at all movies. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for ages 15 and younger. This year, the Braumart will offer a $20 family pass that gets two adults and up to eight youth-age children into the movie.
