Pioneer Church service planned in Mansfield on Tuesday

MANSFIELD — The lanterns will be burning once again in the Pioneer Church beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as churchgoers attend the annual caroling service at Mansfield’s restored log church.

The Mansfield Memories Committee each year sponsors this Christmas celebration reminiscent of the faith of the early settlers. The service is a highlight of the Christmas season because of the uniqueness of the church and the simplicity of the service itself.

The guest officiant will be the Rev. Vicky Prewitt of Christ United Methodist Church in Crystal Falls.

“Everyone is invited to attend and to join in the social and fellowship that will follow,” said Shirley Beck, secretary of the Mansfield Memories.

To get to the Mansfield historical district and log church, go about 4 miles east of Crystal Falls or about 6 miles west of Sagola on M-69, then turn north onto the Mansfield Cut-off Road. Travel to a fork in the road and turn left onto Stream Road. The church site in about a half-mile from the fork.

No admission fee is charged at the church; however, a free-will offering will be taken to help with upkeep of the building.
