CRYSTAL FALLS — Mike Ausema, a National Park Service ranger on Isle Royale, will be guest speaker at a senior day event Monday at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp in Crystal Falls. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 2 p.m., with lunch provided.

Call the camp office at 906-214-2267 by Friday to make reservations. A $10 requested donation will be asked for lunch.

Isle Royale is an isolated national park tucked away in the northwest corner of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Every year, more than 18,000 visitors come to Isle Royale to backpack, camp, boat or fish on this remote set of islands.

Employed to protect the resources of the park and the people who come to visit, Ausema will describe what life is like in one of nature’s wildest places in America.
