Game day planned for Feb. 29

IRON MOUNTAIN — Upcoming events at the Dickinson County Library include:

Thursday

— Directed Discussions, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

Friday

— Level Up! Gamers Club, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Solomonson Branch Library in Norway.

This month’s featured video game is “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.” Other games will be available to play, depending on participants’ interests. The club is aimed at video game enthusiasts in fifth through ninth grades.

Saturday

— Odyssey Seekers Club: Spy Science, 2 to 3 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Kids in third grade and older will be ready to crack any case after participating in activities such as Fingerprint Lab, Invisible Ink Three Ways and Make Your Own Magnifiers.

Monday

— All branches of the Dickinson County Library will be closed for the annual staff training day. Regular hours resume at all branches on Tuesday.

Tuesday

— Spectacular Science, 4 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Children in kindergarten through second grade can learn that science is both educational and fun in this monthly program that will introduce simple STEM concepts through hands-on activities. They will feature a new theme each month.

Thursday, Feb. 20

— Directed Discussions, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

This is an opportunity to speak with Library Director Megan Buck in an open forum. Those attending should bring questions, suggestions or concerns regarding library services. No appointment is necessary.

— Page by Page Book Club, 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

New members are always welcome at the monthly book clubs. This month’s book is “What the Eyes Don’t See” by Mona Hanna-Attisha. Thursday, Feb. 27

“The Iron Mountain Ford Motor Company, 1920-1951,” with Bill Cummings, 6:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

The local historian will give a presentation on this interesting era of the region’s past. This is part of a series, with another presentation scheduled for March and possibly April. For teens and adults.

Saturday, Feb. 29

— Leap Year Game Day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Celebrate 2020’s extra day by playing board and card games at the library. They’ll supply the games — just bring yourself and a few friends and you’re all set. This is a drop-in program, so stop by at any time. For all ages.
