Artist, illustrator Kathy Kuczek featured at Cities Wide Art for All

An illustration by Kathy Kuczek, who will be featured at the Cities Wide Art for All on June 27.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Kathy Kuczek is an artist, author and illustrator who will be part of the Cities Wide Art for All event.

Kuczek’s artwork spans many mediums, from traditional acrylic and oils to digital. She enjoys drawing and painting in many styles, but her favorite type of art is whimsy and illustration.

Bright colors or silly characters are a great refuge when life gets too crazy. She creates images that tell a story or tickle the funny bone. She hopes some of her creations bring a smile. To see her work, go online to kathykuczek.com.

Kuczek will have whimsical illustrations displayed along with acrylic landscape paintings and her children’s books “Hamsters after Dark” and “Field Trip to the Alpaca Farm.”

Due to the COVID-19 situation, rather than the traditional Art for All at Iron Mountain’s City Park this year will be a home-based show. Artists will set up in garages or on lawns from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, with two artists to be open Sunday, June 28, as well.

Visitors are invited to drive to the artist’s homes to make purchases. Two or three artists may set up at one house, just like a city-wide garage sale or home and garden show.

Maps will be available on the website at artforallmi.com, at First Bank and First National Bank & Trust, highlighting artist locations in Vulcan, Norway, Iron Mountain and Kingsford plus Spread Eagle and Niagara in Wisconsin.

While grown-ups view the artwork, children are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt, trying to spot a hidden object in each yard. While no prizes will be awarded, the fun is in the searching.

“We ask that visitors wear masks and only touch artwork if they plan to purchase it,” said Lana Frantz, event coordinator.
