KINGSFORD — Michael Mulligan, president of the Dorothy Occhietti Dickinson County Vocational Scholarship Association, recently announced the scholarship winners for this year.

This year’s recipients are Alexandra Lewis, who will attend Northern Michigan University, and Olivia Olkkonen, who will attend Bay College in the fall.

Applicants must be graduating from a Dickinson County high school and enroll in a two-year technical program, associate degree or certificate program.

The association is grateful to all of the business partners that generously donated to the scholarship fund this year. Donors this year include 41 Lumber; Bacco Construction; Evergreen Heights; Fleury, Singler & Company P.C.; Garrett Eye Center; and U.S. Special Delivery.

Since its inception more than 35 years ago, the association has awarded 82 scholarships totaling more than $78,000.

Mulligan also thanked members of the scholarship committee who attend meetings and analyze applications each year. Current members include Ted Paquin, Al Pirkola, Jerry Picucci, Gene Whippler, James Petroff, Patti Arnold and Paul Bonsall.
