IM Post 50 to host Legion convention
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host the Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion 101st summer convention Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12.
A banquet, meeting and a memorial service will be among the highlights of the event.
They expect 125 to 150 American Legion, Auxiliary, and Sons of American Legion members from throughout the Upper Peninsula and lower Michigan to attend.
The advertising committee will solicit ads from local businesses to put in the convention booklet. The ads will help defer costs for Post 50 sponsoring the event.
The convention will open at 3 p.m. Friday, June 11, with the flag-raising ceremony by the Post 50 Color Guard.
Registration will be 3 to 6 p.m. A joint opening session/memorial service starts at 7 p.m., followed by 40 et 8 promenade in the legion hall.
Activities continue June 12, with registration at 8 a.m., followed by meetings, a luncheon and banquet that will start with a social hour from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and then a sit-down meal.
