Live performances planned at Theatre on the Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis.– Theatre on the Bay returns to live performances with the drama, “The Last Five Years,” with performances scheduled for September and October.

Since 1966, Theatre on the Bay has been a community treasure at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus. The adult theatrical group provides culture, entertainment and enrichment with shows across all genres.

“We are elated to be able to bring theatre back to Theatre on the Bay after such a long hiatus,” said Linda Hornick, program specialist. “We hope to offer shows that will be of interest to many, and we cannot wait to share the talent that our community has to offer.”

“The Last Five Years” is a modern musical that ingeniously chronicles the five-year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up and from break-up to meeting. The musical has won awards and other accolades with critics calling it “honest, emotional and poignant.” A film adaptation was released in 2014, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

Performances for “The Last Five Years” will take place on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25 and Oct. 1-2, starting at 7 p.m. The show stars Brittany Welch and James Porras II. Tickets are now on sale. Go online to www.uwgb.edu/marinette-theatre for details. Socially distanced seating options will be available.

In addition to “The Last Five Years,” Theatre on the Bay has plans for shows in November and December. The Jeff Daniels-penned “Escanaba in da Moonlight” will run Nov. 4-7, and “A Christmas Carol” will be performed in collaboration with Children’s Theatre on Dec. 9-12.

Theatre on the Bay is sponsored by the Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement, offering adults and youth opportunities to participate in theatrical productions.
