Mansfield church Christmas celebration planned Dec. 14

MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Pioneer Church Christmas celebration is planned at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The Rev. Vicki Prewitt, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Crystal Falls, will conduct this ecumenical service.

Those attending will take a step back to a simpler time with candles and lanterns illuminating this historic little church. The antique pump organ will accompany the traditional Christmas carols and all are encouraged to join in singing.

No admission fee is ever required, but a free-will offering will be taken during the service.

Each year, hundreds of people visit the unique church and express their appreciation of those who helped to rebuild the only church Mansfield has known in its 130-year history.

Donations for the recently completed maintenance projects are still being accepted. Mansfield Memories, the historical committee that owns and runs the church, has 501 (c) (3) status and receipts are sent for all donations.

The Mansfield Pioneer Church is on Stream Road. If coming from the west, take a left onto Mansfield Cut -Off Road, about 4 miles from Crystal Falls. If coming from the east, travel on M-69, with the Mansfield Cut -Off Road about 6 miles west of Sagola. Stream Road is found by taking a left at the fork and travel one-half mile to the church.

To keep all guests safe during the holidays, masks will be required regardless of vaccination status.
