Wild Rivers Quilt Guild meets Tuesday

Florence, Wis. — Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites area quilters to its upcoming meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 900 Central Ave. — the intersection of U.S. 2 and Highway 101 – at the west end of Florence.

The program for the evening will be by Melanie Roath of Iron Mountain.

She will present “The Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt, Children’s Stories, Ideas for Decorating Your Home with quilts for Fall.” Attendees will gather by the fireplace in the church. She will read “The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt” by Riel Nason. She will also have ghost prop.

The story is about the disappearing nine patch quilt.

She will break down the block and lead the group through the steps to make the easy and intriguing block.

Roath is the author of a children’s book, “The Secret Life of a Quilt,” which is available on Amazon. The book centers around quilts. She will also read this little story.

Roath and her family all had a part in writing, illustrating and publishing the children’s book.

After she reads the stories and shares the step-by-step guidance on how to make the Disappearing Nine Patch block, Roath will offer tips with the group on decorating homes for the fall season.

“We look forward to a quaint evening around the fire with Melanie,” said a guild spokesperson.
