Autumn Comforts Quilt Show on Saturday in Marquette

The “Michigan Beauty” quilt will be raffled off Sunday during the Autumn Comforts Quilt Show in Marquette.

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Quilter’s Association will present its bi-annual 2022 Autumn Comforts Quilt Show in the Grand Ball Room at Northern Michigan University.

The show will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6.

There will be more than 285 quilts on display along with door prizes, vendors and demonstrations. Quilters from across the Marquette County region, as well as those from other areas, will be displaying a variety of quilts and related items. A plethora of color and texture will adorn the halls and walls of the Grand Ball Room.

MCQA has worked as a team to make a beautiful quilt “Michigan Beauty,” that will be raffled with the winner being named on Sunday. Raffle tickets are available to purchase from Guild members or at the show. All proceeds from the raffle are used to facilitate the show as well as the many community services the group provides.

MCQA was formed in 1978 and is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the art of quilting, patchwork, applique and related fiber arts. The group’s primary focus is on continuing education and community service.

Several organizations in the Marquette County area have been recipients of quilts or other hand sewn items generously given by MCQA members.

Centered in Marquette, their members hail from several counties in the Upper Peninsula. Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on the first Wednesday of the month in the Peter White Public Library Community room.

For more information, go to MCQA’s website at www.marquettecountyquilters.com or Facebook at Marquette County Quilters Association.
