Mansfield Pioneer Church summer service on July 20
MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Memories Committee will host the annual summer ecumenical service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20.
The old pump organ will again accompany many favorite hymns and gospel songs. The Rev. Jim Janofski, pastor of the Randville Bible Church, will be the officiant.
The committee extends an open invitation to anyone who wishes to attend and hopes they will stay for fellowship and lunch after the service. No admission is ever charged to the church but a free-will offering will be collected to help with expenses.
Each year hundreds of people visit this unique historical log church and express their appreciation for the efforts of all who helped with the reconstruction and maintenance of the only church Mansfield has ever known in its 133-year history.
Those who would like to tour the church and learn some of the history of this church situated near the Michigamme River in the “Old Mansfield” location are encouraged to come early.
Directions to this historical landmark are: Turn off M-69 onto the Mansfield Cut-Off Road, which is about 4 miles east of Crystal Falls and about 6 miles west of Sagola. Travel until there is a fork in the road, then veer left onto Stream Road. The church can be seen from the road one-half mile later. The church is also listed as a site on Iron County’s Heritage Trail.
