MANSFIELD — Mansfield Pioneer Church will host its annual Christmas service starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Guest officiant will be the Rev. Vicky Prewitt, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Crystal Falls.

“Everyone is welcome to attend this candle-lit, old-fashion service that brings us back to a simpler time when the pioneers from the area would gather by foot or horse carriage to celebrate the season,” Shirley Beck said.

“One can imagine them singing the same carols that we sing today. Attendees are encouraged to stay for lunch and fellowship following this caroling celebration of Christmas. Everyone is sure to depart filled with a good dose of Christmas spirit. The Mansfield Memories Committee sponsors the service and runs this little log church.”

There is no fee to attend but a free-will offering will be taken; donations to the historical committee for church maintenance are always appreciated. Mansfield Memories has 501(c)(3) status and receipts are sent with all gifts.

Directions to the Pioneer Church are to travel west from Sagola on M-69 and turn right onto Mansfield Cut-Off Road. From Crystal Falls, travel east on M-69, turning left onto Mansfield Cut-Off Road. The church is about 3 miles in on Stream Road Drive.
