IRON MOUNTAIN — October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and both Trinity and Quinnesec United Methodist Churches are excited to welcome their new pastor, the Reverend Crystal Thomas, to the community.

She was born and raised in Flint, Mich., and comes to the U.P. from Jackson, Mich. She is a graduate of Rochester College in Rochester, Mich. She has spent the last 13 years as a pastor at ‘two point charges,’ which means she is adept at handling her duties for two congregations simultaneously.

Thomas has been a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church and was called to ministry at a young age. She brings a wealth of knowledge and familiarity with The United Methodist Church and its values and is eager to share those values with the local community and various local organizations to foster a sense of belonging for all.

Trinity and Quinnesec United Methodist Churches have found her youthful enthusiasm and compassion motivating. Her sermons and actions prove she is a beacon of hope and empowerment, and her Christian spirit unifies and inspires in her sermons.

She has two sons, and both of her parents are military veterans. She was raised by her grandparents on both sides of her family and will forever cherish those memories.

Because of those family relationships, she has solidified her strength and wants to cultivate and help other individuals to find their personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
