Mystery and magic take the stage Friday at Crystal Theatre

CRYSTAL FALLS — With Halloween on the horizon, the Crystal Theatre and Crystal Falls Business Association offer two events that will focus the mind and mood on mystery and magic.

Michigan Advanced Paranormal Society, or MAPS, at 7 p.m. Friday at the theatre will unveil its findings from several recent ghostly investigations in Crystal Falls with a program called “Spirits of the Falls.”

Representatives will debunk false claims and present what mysteries still remain.

They will show videos, answer audience questions, and offer tours of the haunted spots to individuals at least 16 years old.

A family-friendly event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, brings comedy magician Trino and aerialist Ashley back to Crystal Theatre for “Magic Night.” Trino combines comedy with theatrical feats before a backdrop of popular music. With his modern twist on the ancient art of illusion, Trino blends sharp-witted humor and mind-blowing magic with audience participation, making every performance memorable.

Trino’s high-energy magic and comedic timing has dazzled TV and live audiences, ranging from Super Bowl and Stanley Cup champions to rock stars, Fortune 500 executives and Olympic medalists. Growing up just an hour from “The Magic Capital of the World” — Colon, Mich. — Trino learned the art from top professionals. Now a seasoned performer with more than 16 years of experience, he travels the country with his wife, Ashley, a dancer and aerialist.

After a decade of dance experience, she began taking circus classes in 2015. Since then, she has transported her dance background into the air on various apparatuses: silks, lyra and lollipop.

Ashley combines raw strength and grace, blending artistry and athleticism.

Tickets for both events may be purchased online at thecrystaltheatre.org, by phone at 906-875-3208, or in person from 9 a.m. to noon at Stage Left.

Starting at $3.50/week.
