EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — More than 40 northern Wisconsin artists and artisans will open their studios and galleries to the public Friday through Sunday for the North Woods Art Tour.

The self-guided tour invites visitors to go behind the scenes of the art-making process — from potters to painters, fiber artists to woodworkers, jewelers to sculptors, photographers to mixed media, and more.

An online brochure is available at www.northwoodsarttour.com, or pick up a free printed brochure and a detailed map available at area chambers of commerce and various businesses.

Founded in 2000 with 19 studios, the North Woods Art Tour has become a regular summer and autumn event.

Artists volunteer their time to connect with visitors and foster regional arts appreciation.

Artisan Jack Stayer captivates visitors by sharing his process at Sand Lake Trading Company in Lac du Flambeau, Wis.

The fall tour dates are set for Oct. 11-12.

Starting at $3.50/week.
