IRON MOUNTAIN — Upcoming events at the Dickinson County Library include:
— Antique Appraisals with Mark Moran: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. Registration is required by calling 906-774- 1218.
Contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine, Mark Moran will provide free five-minute appraisals for items such as fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments, books and sporting memorabilia.
Participants will receive a time slot during registration and are expected to show up during those respective times. The program is open to all those who have always wanted to watch “Antiques Roadshow” in real life. Even if you don’t have an item, the public is welcome to attend. It will be a great opportunity to see antique and historic artifacts up close.
Excluded items include: all weapons, traps, Nazi memorabilia, coins and paper money, fine jewelry and Beanie Babies.
— Gamers’ Club: 3:15 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the North Dickinson Branch in Felch Township.
The program is a great afterschool activity for students in third through eighth grades. Kids are invited to stop in and play their favorite video games and board games. Games such as “Mario Kart,” “Super Smash Bros.” and “Minecraft” will be available.
— Bow Wows and Books: 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
Required registration opens Wednesday — call 906-774-1218. Patrons of all ages are invited to read to therapy dogs Azul and Belle. Time slots are limited to 15 minutes each.
— Little Senses Playgroup: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.
The Little Senses Playgroup is perfect for little hands to explore. Every month, the library have different stations designed to engage a child’s senses with fun activities like tactile bins, sensory bottles, fine motor activities and early literacy activities. This is a special time for young children to discover and play at their own pace, though they ask that an adult stays to supervise. The event is ideal for children through age 4, but older siblings are welcome.
— Monthly Book Club: 2 to 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.
The book club meets monthly at the Solomonson Branch. New members are always welcome. This month’s discussion will be on “The Bucket List” by Rachel Hanna.
— Forest Friends Storytime: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain
Children through age 5 are welcome to join the journey into the forest. Through singing, dancing and storytelling, they will meet furry friends and adventure in the woods. Storytimes build early literacy skills, communication skills and fine motor skills.
