New pastor at Grace Methodist Church in Norway

Bonnie Billock

NORWAY — After a long search, Grace Methodist Church has found a pastor.

In an unanimous vote, Grace approved the Rev. Bonnie Billock with the blessing of the Global Methodist Church, which supports her move from the Methodist Church in L’Anse where she also served Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee as a two-point charge.

She and her husband, Steve, originally came to L’Anse Methodist Church in June 2024 after her recent graduation from Asbury Seminary. For those who are wondering, she was there during the famous Asbury Revival and has some great stories to share when asked. Billock was ordained first as a deacon to serve both churches but was ordained an elder by the Global Methodist Church this past June. In serving two churches, she began to realize that she wanted to pour her gifting into one church and not two.

In being asked about some of the other reasons why she wanted to serve Grace Methodist, she cites the fact that Grace has many outreach food ministries which she desires to be a part of. She also cites the fact that the people of Grace are hungry to reach out and serve the community further, which is exactly where her heart is — serving others. She is also excited to use her experience and gifting in developing ministries that touch the heart of the community.

Billock comes to Norway with many experiences, including a time in the medical field, serving in long-term care as a business office manager, and has served many churches in the area of children’s ministries as she developed curriculum and Christ-centered programs. She once grew a children’s ministry from five to 75 children and hopes to capitalize on that past success at Grace Methodist.

As far as her sermons go, she will tell you that is her least-favorite part of ministry, but for those who hear her preach, that just may be their favorite part of what she does in ministry. She aims at keeping her sermons short and relatable and not cluttered with theological jargon that falls outside of a congregation’s understanding.

She is often found in her church office at 130 Odill Drive in Norway and invites anyone to stop by to visit or call the office at 906-563-8917. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. every Sunday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
