4-H Proud Equestrian Program set at DC fairgrounds
NORWAY — The Menominee County 4-H Proud Equestrian Program, a therapeutic horseback riding program for youth and young adults with disabilities, ages 5 to 26, is set from about 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 10-14, at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds in Norway. PEP operates under the direction of a certified instructor, along with youth, teen and adult volunteers. ICWC annual paddling event today
IRON RIVER — Iron County Watershed Coalition will hosts its annual float today. Participants will launch canoes and kayaks at 11 a.m. on Golden Lake. The entrance is a mile off U.S. 2, along Highway 16, 13 miles west of Iron River. The group will paddle for a couple of hours and will then find shade in the park’s campsites to picnic. “This will be a potluck, and we encourage participants to bring camp chairs, beverages, and bug and sun protection,” said Maggie Scheffer of ICWC. “We will enjoy a musical performance by Whitewater — the Premos.” After the picnic, they ...

Wagner celebrates 90th birthday today
IRON MOUNTAIN — Ruth Wagner is celebrating her 90th birthday with family and friends. She will enjoy cake and ice cream, her favorite. One of her favorite activities is going for car rides, either sightseeing and often going out to eat. If you ask her if she wants to go for a ride, she says, “Sure, where we going?” — always smiling. Wagner has three children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
