Registration opens for youth football

Player registration is now open for the Central UP Youth Football League. Fifth through eighth graders for the 2026-2027 school year may register. Any child can play in any of the following areas: Bark River, Escanaba (fifth and sixth only), Forest Park (fifth and sixth only), Iron Mountain, Kingsford, North Central, and West Iron County (fifth and sixth only). For registration information, go to the league website at www.centralupyouthfootball.org. Registration closes on May 15.

Post 50 to host fish fry Friday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the hall. Customers will have a choice of walleye, three-piece cod, eight breaded shrimp, five-piece Alaskan walleye (pollock) or smelt. Pembine church salad luncheon on Saturday

PEMBINE, Wis. — The Women of Grace Ministry of Grace Lutheran Church in Pembine will have their annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Saturday. Doors will open at 11 a.m., with serving starting at noon. The luncheon program “Sowing the Seeds” includes a presentation on gardening by Danielson’s Greenhouse and Floral of Norway. ‘Armchair Airline’ on Friday in Iron River

IRON RIVER — Adults who love travel and culture are encouraged to attend the “Armchair Airline” program at 11 a.m. Friday at the West Iron District Library in Iron River. Free community meal on Sunday

NORWAY — Grace United Methodist Church of Norway will offer a free community meal from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu will include meatballs or meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy vegetable, dinner roll and dessert. There is no cost for the dinner; a donation basket will be available. Come to Supper meal Monday in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — The First Presbyterian Church, 409 Lake Ave. in Florence, will host its monthly “Come to Supper” meal Monday. The free hot meal with a beverage and dessert will be served from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to enjoy a meal and fellowship. The committee notes that the elevator is temporarily out of order and they hope to have the problem corrected before the Monday’s dinner.
