IRON MOUNTAIN — First National Bank & Trust has donated a $1,000 match to the Downtown Business Relief Fund, the Friends of the Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority announced.

“First National Bank and Trust proudly supports the Friends of the Iron Mountain DDA’s Downtown Business Relief Fund. Small business are the life blood of our community and we need to join together to support them during this unprecedented time,” said Matthew Lutz, chief financial officer for First National Bank & Trust.

The Friends of the DDA hosted a live virtual concert May 21 that featured Lindsay Lou, an Iron Mountain native. Nearly $3,000 was raised during the concert and the days that followed. First National Bank & Trust’s match brings the total to almost $4,000.

“We are very grateful to First National Bank & Trust, which is always extremely supportive of our efforts downtown. This cause is close to all of our hearts, and any support we can give to downtown businesses is crucial,” said Amber Pipp, DDA program director.

The Downtown Business Relief Fund was created to assist small businesses within the downtown development district. The goal is to award as many microgrants as possible to qualified businesses that have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Grant funds may be used for approved business-related operational expenses, such as rent, utilities or development of an e-commerce site.
