U.P. Labor-Management conference March 5

ESCANABA – The U.P. Labor-Management Council Inc. has selected the Island Resort & Casino Conference Center in Harris, as the host site for its 2015 annual conference.

The annual conference, entitled “Table Talk: Focus on Bargaining,” has been scheduled for Thursday, March 5.

The one-day conference will feature several educational seminars for participants. Shela Khan Monroe, Michigan Nurses Association, will kick off the conference presenting “Best Practices for Preparing for Negotiations” to the full audience.

The second general session is “Affordable Care Act at the Bargaining Table” presented by Clifford Hammond, Nemeth Law P.C., Detroit.

Morning and afternoon breakout sessions include “Bargaining Retiree Health/Pension Benefits” presented by Attorney Laura Katers Reilly from Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee & Keefe PC of Marquette; “Labor/Management Basics: Information Requests” presented by Shela Khan Monroe, MNA;, and “Right to Work: Your Questions Answered” presented by Art Przybylowicz, Michigan Education Association and Gary Patterson, Masud Labor Law Group.

The final session for the 2015 Annual Conference will be “The Power of Our Words” presented by James A. Surrell, MD.

Anyone in the workplace representing labor or management, as well as college students would find this conference educational and time well spent.
