Women honored for volunteer efforts in 2014

KINGSFORD – The Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Federal Credit Union has selected Lydia Krivanek as their Volunteer of the Year.

Krivanek has volunteered countless hours in her community and logged more than 548 hours over the year -that works out to more than 10 volunteer hours per week.

She volunteers her time with Florence County events such as their fair, Aurora Rescue Squad, mud run and more. She also is an advocate for the animal shelter and crochets many catnip eggs, which are sold to benefit the animals there.

Krivanek also gave her time to the Credit Union’s Bras for a Cause event, 100+ Women Who Care and other worthy opportunities.

“I am thrilled to be chosen as Volunteer of the Year. It’s a privilege to be part of such a caring community and to have the opportunity to use my time and skills to help others,” Krivanek said.

Two runners-up for Volunteer of the Year were also honored by the credit union – Lori Lejeune and Sonya Nelson.

Each of these women have volunteered with many events throughout the year and gave tirelessly to their community as well, through events such as Bras for a Cause, Soup Kitchen, 100+ Women Who Care and the Veterans Administration.
