Beef cattle to be focus of MSU-UP center tour

CHATHAM — The Michigan State University-Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center will host a Twilight Tour of South Farm beef cattle, grazing and grain projects to highlight these commodities and ongoing research from 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, Aug. 20, at MSU-UPREC, E3774 University Drive in Chatham.

The event is free to attend and will begin with a dinner featuring beef from the UPREC herd of Wagyu cattle. Tour participants will have an opportunity to view research cattle, pastures and plots of small grains, corn and hemp.

Presentations will focus on beef cattle finishing systems (grass vs. grain), pasture management, grain varieties and agronomy.
