IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member Harmony Hearth Bakery with a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Harmony Hearth Bakery is an artisan bakery specializing in sourdough breads and pastries–everything made completely from scratch, with no shortcuts. The bakery offers a daily menu along with ever-changing specials, custom orders, and pre-orders, ensuring there’s always something for everyone.

While the business was founded in December, owners Cadance Kapeles and Erik Kraemer spent months transforming their vision into reality, renovating their building, sourcing equipment and hosting pop-ups and bake sales to build anticipation. With the help of Cadance’s parents, Tara and Bill Kapeles, who supported them through legal and compliance hurdles and endless renovations, and the support of close friends, the dream finally came to life with their grand opening in June.

They’ve already marked another milestone by adding their first employee, Courtney Blazier, to the growing team.

“We started this business because it has always been my dream to be a baker, and Erik’s dream has always been to grow something beautiful and purposeful from the ground up with people he cares about,” Cadance Kapeles said. “We both enjoy the unknown and the challenges of starting a business deeply rooted in purpose where dreams come true. It has been difficult and scary–but we have loved every minute of it.”

Looking ahead, the bakery plans to expand into a cozy café-style space, offering soups, sandwiches and coffee — a welcoming atmosphere where people can gather, connect or simply enjoy a quiet moment with a croissant and a book.

Whether you’re craving a warm, flaky pastry or picking up a fresh loaf of sourdough, Harmony Hearth Bakery is “baking dreams” at 1042 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain. They are also online at harmonyhearthbakery.com and on Facebook.

Starting at $3.50/week.
