The past weekend offered a host of events and activities, though one ended up cancelled at the last minute. Pat Sommers and Randy Peterson dish up the 100-square-foot mushroom pizza Saturday during the 27th annual Humongous Fungus Festival in Crystal Falls. Steven and Susanna Wagner of Lansing, Mich., purchase dried mushrooms from the Shiitake Creek Mushroom Company. The Wagners just happened to be passing through Crystal Falls and stopped to check out the festival. The Steenos — Bob and Lisa Steeno of Niagara, Wis. — perform at the Keyes Peak Summerfest and Pig Roast on Saturday in Florence, Wis. However, the annual Aurora Mudd Runs in Aurora, Wis., set for Sunday, were called off Saturday evening due to what Aurora Homestead Rescue said was an insurance issue, according to a post on the Florence County Sheriff’s office Facebook page. No further information was available as of press time today.
