Fall Drug Take Back Day in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Health Department and Sheriff’s Office will provide the free collection from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the north entrance of the courthouse near the health department, 501 Lake Ave.

Make a difference in your community by safely disposing of prescription pain pills. Why? Many heroin and methamphetamine addictions start by using other people’s prescription pain pills.

Locking up prescription pain pills while you are using them and getting rid of them safely when you don’t use them anymore, prevents misuse in our communities.

The health department is also providing a one-day free collection of syringes/sharps. Normally, the cost is $3 per pound for the sharps collection. Sharps must be in acceptable containers. For any questions regarding sharps disposal, please call the health department at 715-528-4837.

As a resource to the community, a drug drop box is available to people 24/7 in the lobby of the sheriff’s office.
