SAGOLA TOWNSHIP — A worker at Minerick Logging was fatally injured Thursday while doing routine maintenance on a vehicle, authorities said.

Rescue and law enforcement were called to the Sagola business about 10:50 a.m., according to Michigan State Police Iron Mountain post.

When troopers arrived, a STAR Ambulance crew already was tending to the injured worker, according to the news release from the MSP.

Paramedics immediately requested a helicopter for medical transport and traffic on M-95 was temporarily shut down to create a landing site.

Emergency medical treatment continued after Valley Med Flight arrived but despite those efforts, the worker did not survive, the MSP release stated.

The employee’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The MSP was assisted by STAR Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, Valley Med Flight, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and Sagola Township Fire Department.
