Books On The Bus program completes third year in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — Books On The Bus, a program providing reading materials on the School District of Florence County buses, has just completed its third year.

This program was coordinated by the Friends of the Florence County Library. Every three weeks, books that have been placed in seat covers for the eight district buses are rotated so students in grades 4K through fifth could enjoy a new supply of books to read as they went to school and back home.

This program was made possible through the donation of funds in 2016 from the 100+ Women Who Care and the Friends continue to thank them for that support.

There have been a number of individuals and groups that have made this program possible and a success. A huge thank you for helping with Books On The Bus including the school board, the Friends, the eight bus drivers, transportation supervisor Richard Roberts, Meg Dallapiazza with the school TORPEDOES, and librarian Stephanie Weber.

New non-fiction/fiction books are purchased as needed, but many families have given slightly used books to support the program.
