Student Service Awards presented to local graduates
LANSING — The Michigan Student Service Award program is offered through the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency and the Volunteer Centers of Michigan.
This award was earned by 14 local graduates from Iron Mountain, Kingsford and Forest Park high schools.
“This award highlights students who have taken time out of their busy high school schedules to give back to the community in order to make it a better place,” said Kathy Arnold, DICSA volunteer program director.
Students who have received this award must have volunteered more than 400 hours for their community.
Recipients include Meryl Louma-Mannisto, Cecilia Berutti, Emma Thoman, Rebecca Pilette, Valerie Caylor, August Early, Lilia Boehmfeldt, Riley Poupore, Ann Grider, Kalvin Nichols, Ethan Freeman and Megan Arndt of Iron Mountain and Kingsford; and Taylor Clark and Marija Cornelia of Forest Park.
“On behalf of the DICSA staff, we want to express our appreciation to these students for their time spent on helping the community,” Arnold said.
