The VFW Auxiliary Post 2891 celebrated the Adopt A Veteran program at the end of the school year with rewards for all the third and fourth graders at Forest Park Elementary School in Crystal Falls. Students designed different cards throughout the year. Not only were the cards for traditional holidays, but also each veteran at the Iron County Medical Care Facility and Victorian Heights in Crystal Falls received a number of birthday cards for his or her birthday. The students were challenged to complete and return a coloring book that they received in the fall to start off the program again. They received a gift if the booklet was returned. For some veterans, this is the only mail they received. At right are teachers Lisa Santi, Kim Nurmi and Judy Fell, VFW 2891 member and VFW 15th district president.
