Florence’s fab lab available to public
Sessions from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays
FLORENCE, Wis. — The public is invited to explore and create custom projects or prototypes at the fabrication lab at Florence High School.
Fab lab participants can learn how to carve or etch their own designs into wood, metal or glass, 3-D print plastic, or create vinyl stickers or banners.
Visitors can stop by at northeast entrance K from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays for a free introduction to the fab lab.
“There is a lot of talented people here that are learning how to put their ideas into custom projects such as etched cradles carved out of wood, 3-D printed fingers, personalized wood items and glassware, and much more,” said Amanda Yadro, fab lab coordinator.
For a nominal user fee, participants can bring their own materials or purchase them from the school district and try custom designing with computer-aided manufacturing on machines such as a CNC wood router, plasma cutter, 3-D printers, several professional etchers, and more.
