Details released on fatal crash

MENOMINEE — A Faithorn man was killed Monday in a three-vehicle collision with entrapment and ejection in Holmes Township, according to a release from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash at 1:36 p.m. after a 19-year-old Stephenson man ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 356 and County Road 577.

Derek “DJ” Bryant, 29, was ejected from the passenger seat of a vehicle and died as a result of his injuries.

The 19-year-old driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs causing death and is in critical condition. The man, who’s name is being withheld pending future arraignment, remains in custody at a medical facility and was given a $50,000 personal recognizance bond, the release stated.

Deputies were assisted by Mid-County Rescue and Extraction, Stephenson and Daggett volunteer fire departments, Michigan State Police Accident Investigators and the Menominee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
