Breitung Township kicks in for graduation celebration
QUINNESEC — The Breitung Township Board on Monday purchased a $100 advertisement in a program for the Kingsford High School’s senior graduation celebration.
The graduating Class of 2020 have planned an all-night party May 23 and use both cash and merchandise donations to gift graduates with dormitory appliances and accessories.
The $100 cost is a budgeted expense, as the township has made a similar purchase for a number of years.
In other business, the board:
— Allowed Utility Clerk and Administrative Assistant Adrienne Savord to participate in a Michigan State University online program on effective municipal communication, at a cost not to exceed $500.
— Approved Dan Moyer’s request to rezone 42 acres near Town and Country Sales in Quinnesec so he can build a shop for his business, Moyer Excavating.
— Hired Mary Ann Hansen as a Department of Public Works part-time summer employee.
— Accepted Breitung Township Volunteer Firefighter Sam Blazier’s resignation.
