IRON MOUNTAIN –The Dickinson County Hospital Foundation has teamed up with the Kingsford High School hockey team to raise funds for cancer patients.

The fourth annual “Pink the Rink” event will take place Saturday at Mountain View Ice Arena with the puck dropping at noon.

The arena will be decorated in pink and all spectators are asked to wear pink and participate in the most “pinked out” fan contest.

There will be a player jersey raffle and other prize drawings, a pink lemonade stand and concessions. Kim Harder Webb will sing the national anthem.

The Flivvers will take on the Gaylord Blue Devils at noon and after the game anyone can join the Flivvers team to skate on the ice for $3. The rink has skates available in all sizes at no additional charge.

The hockey team is a co-op sport with players from Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Norway, Crystal Falls and West Iron.

Funds raised will purchase fleece fabric to be made into blankets by Kingsford Middle School students for patients in treatment for cancer at Dickinson County Healthcare System.

The event slogan is “Hockey Hugs” from the hockey players for friends and neighbors in treatment locally.

“It’s a wonderful community event for both the hockey team and fans,” said coach Greg Wadge. “The players, families and fans really have fun with this game, and playing Gaylord promises to be a good game.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
