Bay College closes campuses

ESCANABA — Due to the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases across the country and within Michigan, effective 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, the physical campuses of Bay College will be closed and all services will be available online, on the phone, or through email as employees work from remote locations.

“College employees will provide all the services possible as they navigate this challenging time,” said Jennifer LaChance, community events and marketing coordinator.

Bay College has moved all possible courses online. For students, all coursework, testing, and exams have been moved online.

Support services including tutoring, supplemental instruction, advising, counseling, registration for summer and fall, and more are moved online (or via phone). High speed internet via Wi-Fi has been extended to outside parking areas on the Escanaba campus and West campus in Iron Mountain for students in need.

To learn about all the services available to students, go to www.baycollege.edu/coronavirus.

“Please be patient as we continue offering services in new ways,” LaChance said. “We recognize both students and employees are working hard to get new connection modalities in place and functional, and together we will succeed as we move through the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Registration for summer courses is open, as well as fall applications. Fall semester registration opens on March 30 for returning students. New student applications are being accepted, with registration to take place during new student orientation.
