Marinette County Fair starts Thursday

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. – While most other similar events were canceled this summer amid COVID-19 concerns, the Marinette County Fair still will take place from Thursday through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Wausaukee.

The fair has four of its usual five grandstand events, live music and performers in the children’s area stage, said Jessica Markiewicz, Marinette County Fair Board treasurer.

The fairgrounds will have additional hand sanitizer and washing stations at every barn. Face masks also will be available.

Youth livestock judging is set for Friday, culminating in the auction that evening.

Featured grandstand events include the farm tractor pull Friday, the demolition derby 1 p.m. Saturday and the supermodified truck and tractor pull at 7 that evening.

Daze 2 Nights, a Wausaukee-based band that plays “a variety of music from the ’60s to today,” will perform at the fair from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday. The band Model Citizens will be on stage from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday.

Magician Rob Thompson and the Miller & Mike Comedy Show, featuring two former Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus clowns who also juggle, will take place in the children’s area throughout much of the fair.

Carnival rides will be available starting at 4 p.m. Thursday. Wristbands for unlimited carnival rides will be available for $20 for 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, along with from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. No wristbands are to be offered Saturday.
