Marquette man dies in crash

MARQUETTE — A 57-year-old Marquette man was killed Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Marquette County Road 550 in Marquette Township,

The 57-year-old driver was northbound on County Road 550 near Compeau Creek Road about 4 p.m. when his 2007 Buick Lacrosse crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 67-year-old Marquette man, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lacrosse continued northbound in the southbound lane and struck a 2008 Ford F-550 driven by a 34-year-old Gwinn resident who was behind the GMC pickup truck. All three vehicles had heavy damage.

The driver of the Lacrosse was pronounced dead at Upper Peninsula Health System-Marquette. His family has been notified. The driver of the GMC turned down medical treatment at the site, while the driver of the Ford sought medical treatment on his own.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire and EMs, UPHS EMS and the Michigan State Police.
