State shows 19 new coronavirus cases in UP
Michigan health officials Wednesday reported 19 new COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had seven new cases in Marquette County and six each in Menominee and Delta counties.
On the Wisconsin side of the region, that state’s COVID-19 data site showed nine new cases in Marinette County, three in Vilas County, two in Iron County and one in Forest County.
For the Upper Peninsula, the MDHHS COVID-19 data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County with two confirmed cases; Luce County, four confirmed cases; Baraga County, six confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County, 13 confirmed cases and one probable; Alger County, 15 confirmed and two probable; Mackinac County, 22 confirmed cases and six probable; Iron County, 23 confirmed cases and one death; Ontonagon County, 28 confirmed and two probable; Chippewa County, 33 confirmed cases and 15 probable; Houghton County, 48 confirmed cases and eight probable; Dickinson County, 59 confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Delta County, 97 confirmed cases, 25 probable and three deaths; Gogebic County, 128 confirmed cases, nine probable and a death; Menominee County, 177 confirmed cases and 30 probable; and Marquette County, 192 confirmed cases, 25 probable and 11 deaths. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS also earlier separately had prison inmates who were positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.
Using state figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 849 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 18 deaths.
The MDHHS reported 616 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Wednesday for a total of 94,278 to date. The state added nine new deaths Wednesday for a total of 6,349.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 523 cases and five deaths; Iron County 92 cases and one death; Vilas County 83 cases; Forest County 62 cases and four deaths; and Florence County 17 cases. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin recorded 663 new positives in the state Wednesday for a total of 67,493 to date, according to the state DHS data site. The state had eight new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday for a total of 1,060.
According to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department, Dickinson County as of Wednesday has had 60 confirmed COVID-19 positives, with 38 recovered, two deaths and 20 cases still active. Iron County has had 23 positives, with 10 recovered, one death and 12 still active.
Dickinson County Healthcare System as of Wednesday showed 19 cases from Dickinson County and 23 cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 2,843 people for COVID-19, with 42 positive, 2,755 negative and 46 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.
