IRON MOUNTAIN — Residents of Iron Mountain and Kingsford are reminded that the overnight winter parking ban goes into effect Sunday and runs through March 31.

Under the ban, parking is prohibited on streets, alleys and city-owned parking lots between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Officers will not begin enforcing the ban until the first snowfall that requires plows and salters to come out, said Ed Mattson, Iron Mountain director of police and fire services, and Brian Metras, Kingsford Public Safety director.

After that first significant snowfall, citations will be written each night, regardless of the weather.
