IM arrest made in Menominee reservation death
IRON MOUNTAIN — A man wanted for questioning in connection with a vehicle arson and suspicious death on the Menominee Indian Reservation was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon in Iron Mountain by the local Critical Incident Response Team, said Ed Mattson, director of police and fire services.
Emerson K. Reed, 34, was in the Dickinson County Correctional Center without bond pending extradition to Wisconsin, Mattson stated Thursday in a news release.
Authorities had received information Reed, as well as a reported stolen car, could be found at the Park Ridge Mobile Home Park, he said.
Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards issued a search warrant and the CIRT team was activated to take Reed into custody about 1 p.m. Wednesday due to the high risk.
On Aug. 19, Menominee Tribal Police found on the reservation a burned vehicle with human remains, later identified as Stephanie Greenspon, 24, of Green Bay, Wis.
On Oct. 22, tribal police announced Reed was wanted for questioning, stating he had multiple warrants and may be dangerous.
The CIRT team includes members of the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Kingsford Public Safety and Iron Mountain and Norway police.
