IRON MOUNTAIN — Authorities have released the names of an Aurora, Wis., couple who died after their vehicle struck two parked cars on West A Street and overturned Monday night.

The crash occurred about 6:15 p.m. when a westbound SUV traveling at a high rate of speed hit a parked car on the 1200 block of West A Street and continued out of control into the 1300 block, striking a second parked car before rolling, officers said.

Both occupants were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with grave injuries, said Ed Mattson, director of police and fire services. Jaquie Sorenson died a short time after the crash while the driver, Craig Sorenson, died Tuesday at a Green Bay, Wis., hospital after being airlifted. Both were 72.

Assisting the Iron Mountain police and fire departments were a Michigan State Police accident investigator and Integrity Care EMS.

Investigation into the cause of the crash continues, Mattson said.
