Ten new virus cases in Dickinson County

Local health officials Wednesday reported a baker’s dozen of new COVID-19 positives, with 10 in Dickinson County and three in Iron County.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Dickinson County also had six newly recovered cases, Iron County two new recoveries, according to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department.

The DIDHD on Wednesday listed Dickinson County at 1,990 confirmed positives and 191 probable cases, with 1,678 recovered, 64 deaths and 439 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD showed 771 confirmed cases and 46 probables, with 702 recovered, 34 deaths and 81 still active.

Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Wednesday added 84 confirmed coronavirus positives: 18 in Marquette County; 11 in Menominee County; 10 in Delta County; nine in Dickinson, Houghton and Schoolcraft counties; eight in Chippewa County; four in Iron and Baraga counties; and one each in Keweenaw and Gogebic counties. No new deaths were indicated.

In total for the U.P., the data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 67 confirmed cases and 15 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 127 confirmed cases and 65 probable; Alger County, 190 confirmed, 129 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 210 confirmed cases and 19 probable, three deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 260 confirmed cases and 120 probable, two deaths; Ontonagon County, 277 confirmed, 29 probable and 15 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 459 confirmed cases, 86 probable and 28 deaths; Chippewa County, 556 confirmed cases and 829 probable, and 12 deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 708 confirmed cases and 294 probable, 15 confirmed deaths and 23 probable; Iron County, 769 confirmed cases and 44 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,451 confirmed cases, 238 probable and 25 deaths; Houghton County, 1,582 confirmed cases, 392 probable, 25 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 1,986 confirmed cases and 188 probable, 54 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,474 confirmed cases and 415 probable, 60 confirmed deaths and 17 probable; and Marquette County, 3,139 confirmed cases, 418 probable and 51 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 14,255 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 324 deaths.

The MDHHS on Wednesday reported 4,222 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 488,144. The state added 51 new deaths Wednesday to reach 12,333.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday showed 23 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 14 in Vilas County and eight in Forest County. The state added two deaths in Iron County.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Wednesday had Marinette County with 3,528 confirmed cases, 324 probable cases and 42 deaths; Vilas County, 1,587 confirmed, 64 probable and 21 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 840 confirmed, 59 probable and 22 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 417 confirmed, 108 probable and 17 deaths, 16 probable; and Florence County, 396 confirmed, 23 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 2,755 new positives Wednesday for a total of 477,292 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state recorded 35 deaths Wednesday to reach 4,818.
