DIDHD to schedule more virus vaccinations next week

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department will schedule appointments next week to provide a free COVID-19 vaccination to residents age 50 and older with disabilities or pre-existing conditions and caregivers of children with special health needs.

For Dickinson County residents, appointments can be made starting at 8 a.m. Monday. A link will be posted on didhd.org at the same time so individuals can schedule their own appointment online. Those who do not have computer access can call 906-774-1868.

Iron County residents can schedule starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Again, a link will be posted on didhd.org for online appointments. Those who do not have computer access can call 906-265-9913.

Appointments can be scheduled in either county. Do not call before 8 a.m., as schedules will not be open. Appointments are required to receive the vaccine; no walk-ins will be accepted.

Consent forms and other information regarding COVID-19 can be found at didhd.org. Those scheduled for vaccination are asked to print and fill out the online consent form in advance if possible to help keep the clinic flow moving. Consent forms also will be available at the clinics.

Mass clinics have been set up at off-site locations to allow for better social distancing:

— Dickinson County: Dickinson County Fair Grounds, Yellow Administration Building, Norway.

— Iron County: Forest Park School, east entrance near the parking lot by the bus garage, Crystal Falls.

These appointments are open only to residents of Dickinson and Iron counties. A photo ID will be required to verify county residency.

To help maintain social distancing, do not arrive early.

Those scheduled who are unable to attend for any reason should call to cancel so that doses can be rescheduled for others.
