IM man pleads not guilty to having child pornography

IRON MOUNTAIN — An Iron Mountain man accused of having child pornography pleaded not guilty Monday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Matthew Ance, 38, is charged with six counts of the aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Ance had child sexually abusive material on a computer.

Ance was arrested after an investigation by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to an earlier news release from the Michigan State Police.

The investigation reportedly stemmed from a tip submitted through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipLine.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for July 2. Bond was set at $75,000 cash, surety or 10%.
