ISD offers Head Start

KINGSFORD –The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Department of Early Childhood Education is accepting Early Head Start and Head Start applications for the 2021-2022 school year.

The ISD has early childhood centers in Iron River, Kingsford, Norway and North Dickinson.

Pregnant mothers and children ages birth to 3 may be eligible for the Early Head Start Program.

Early Head Start offers parent support through weekly home visits that focus on the child’s development. It also offers play and learn socialization groups designed just for infants and toddlers.

Children ages 3 and 4 may be eligible to attend the Head Start preschool program. The program is free to families who qualify and children are not required to be potty-trained prior to enrollment.

The Head Start program offers part-day and full-day classroom options, Tuesday through Friday. Head Start provides a structured play-based learning environment, which meets children at their developmental starting place and focuses on all developmental domains. Children will be provided a free breakfast, lunch and snack throughout the day. Bussing is provided at no cost.

Families interested in enrolling their child in Early Head Start or Head Start can call the 906-779-2695 or go to www.diisd.org to obtain an application.
