New coronavirus cases continue to be sparse in the region
Local data Monday showed six more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County but both it and Iron County also have reclassified 17 residents as recovered from the virus.
The six new cases the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department listed in a Facebook post Monday morning matches what the state had reported Friday.
The DIDHD had Dickinson County at 2,413 confirmed positives and 341 probable cases, with 2,633 recovered, 72 deaths and 49 cases still active. For Iron County, the agency had 987 confirmed cases and 71 probables, with 981 recovered, 49 deaths and 28 active cases.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday added only four more confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula since its last update Saturday: one each in Marquette, Luce, Ontonagon and Mackinac counties.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 20,025 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 435 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 254 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 321 confirmed, 195 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 352 confirmed cases and 83 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 418 confirmed, 60 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 454 confirmed cases and 255 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 690 confirmed cases, 125 probable and 37 deaths; Iron County, 983 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,042 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,079 confirmed cases and 1,395 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,793 confirmed cases, 327 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,404 confirmed cases and 339 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,528 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 34 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,342 confirmed cases and 714 probable, 75 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,251 confirmed cases, 820 probable and 61 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday posted 419 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total to date of 890,764. The state Monday had 11 new deaths attributed to the virus for the two-day period to reach 19,376.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had three new confirmed positives in both Marinette and Vilas counties and one in Florence County.
The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 4,232 confirmed cases, 476 probable cases and 66 deaths, six probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,287 confirmed, 146 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 964 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 582 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 452 confirmed, 55 probable and 13 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin on Monday added 260 new positives since Friday for a total of 611,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted 11 new deaths Monday to reach 7,161.
