FLORENCE, Wis. — A man and dog were fatally injured Wednesday after the vehicle they were in rolled on State Highway 101 south of County Highway D in Florence.

The Florence Fire Department had to use extrication tools to remove the man from the vehicle after the crash, reported at 4:56 p.m., according to a news release from Florence County Sheriff Dan Miller.

The man was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain and then transferred to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., where he later died from his injuries.

A dog was found dead in the vehicle, according to the news release.

The accident remains under investigation. The identity of the man has not been released.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office and fire department were assisted by the Fence Volunteer Fire Department, Florence Rescue Squad and Integrity Care EMS.
