NIAGARA, Wis. — Gilbert Engel of Niagara is a candidate for the Marinette County Board of Supervisors in District 1.

Engel, a former board member, will be challenging incumbent Roger Allen in the April 5 election.

“I understand the importance of the county services we enjoy and receive by supporting the employees of Marinette County,” Engel said. “It is also important for recruiting new families that Marinette County is seen as a middle of the road and rational place to work and live. I was a county employee for Marinette for approximately 14 years, retiring in 2008 and very much enjoy calling Niagara my home.

“I also helped alert our previous mayor of available grants for street lights and sidewalks that safely connects the upper and lower areas of Niagara while I was previously your Niagara county supervisor,” Engel added. “I am presently the chairman of the Almost Home Animal Shelter and have been volunteering there for about 10 years. I would appreciate your support on April 5.”
