Hord, O’Brion awarded Dorothy Occhietti vocational scholarships

IRON MOUNTAIN — Michael Mulligan, president of the Dorothy Occhietti Dickinson County Vocational Scholarship Association, recently announced the scholarship winners for the 2021-22 school year.

Applicants must be graduating from a Dickinson County high school and enrolling in a two-year technical program, associate degree or certificate program. This year’s recipients are Ashton Hord, attending Bay College, and Nathan O’Brion, attending Fox Valley Technical College in the fall.

The association would like to thank all of the business partners that donated to the scholarship fund this year. Donors this year include: Bacco Construction, Jacobs Funeral Home, Northwoods Manufacturing Inc., Okler Construction & Services Inc., The Markell Company, M.J. Electric, 41 Lumber, Champion Inc., Fleury Singler & Company P.C., John Michael Garrett MC PC, Kaad Family Dentistry and Robert & Jeanine Dagenais.

Since its inception 40 years ago, the association has awarded more than 85 scholarships totaling more than $80,000.

Mulligan would like to thank as well the members of the scholarship committee who attend meetings and analyze applications each year. Current members include Al Pirkola, Jerry Picucci, Gene Whippler, James Petroff, Patti Arnold, Paul Bonsall and Cole Smith.
